First Blog of 2020

It is mid-2020, and we’re still stuck in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. I am lucky to be living and working in Taiwan at this time. I wear a mask and go to work everyday.

This is the Year of the the Rat, but I am beginning to think of it as the Year of the Mask!

Quenntis Attempts To Fold Time

I commute over two hours a day (mostly by train), five days a week. And I always wear a mask when in public.

First, Quenntis Goes To Work | 70 minutes

  1. I ride my scooter/bicycle to the Yuanlin Train Station | 5 minutes.
  2. I walk to Platform 2 | 5 minutes.
  3. I take the 07:15 train to Taichung City | 45 minutes.
  4. I walk to a free Ubike station | 5 minutes.
  5. I ride my scooter/bicycle to school | 10 minutes.

Then, Quenntis Goes Home | 64 minutes

  1. I ride my scooter/bicycle to the Taichung Train Station | 10 minutes.
  2. I walk to Platform 1 | 5 minutes.
  3. I take the 17:28 train to Yuanlin City | 39 minutes.
  4. I walk to my scooter | 5 minutes.
  5. I ride my scooter home | 5 mintues.

Here’s my ‘viral’ version on the famous speech:

Speech: “All your world’s my stage”

By Corona Virus (with apologies to Willi. Shakes.)

From As You Tested Positive, spoken by Covid-19)

coronavirus world pandemic

All your world’s my stage,
& all you men & women merely players;
You have your exits & your entrances;
& 1 human in time plays all the parts,
Your acts being 7 ages. @ first like infant,
Coughing into your arms;
& then as whining student, with satchel

& shining fevered face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. & then lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a medicinal ballad
Made to raise eyebrows. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, & masked like the nurse,
Serving in honour, sudden & quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation

coronavirus covid-19

Even with covered mouth. & then injustice,
In fair round belly due to quarantine,
With eyes severe & beards uncut,
Full of fake news & social distancing;
& so you play your parts. 6th age shifts
Into lean & slippery buffoon,
With spectacle as diversion;

The youth pose, well-selfied, a world too wide
For shrinking economies; & big manly vices,
Turning toward childish troubles, pipes
& whistles in deference. Seen last of all,
To end thy unhealthy history,
Is 2nd childishness & mere oblivion;
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans vaccination.

||||| A confession: I have blogged off and on before at blogspot|2016-17, on weebly, and through wordpress|2010-12. |||||

This time blogging feels quite different. My life has a direction and a purpose that I feel I am able to comprehend and express better than ever before. I have more faith and confidence in the continuing evolution of my creative self.

||||| And so my digital march of words continues. |||||

My Quintessential plan for this blog and my website is to write into the darkness of the risky unknown. I want to encourage myself to (A) write regularly on a public platform and to (B) write about a wide variety of things that spark a creative response in my imagination and my urge to express that spark.

||||| This blog is a digital publication. |||||

I also hope to connect, engage, and interact with Readers|Followers|Fans of my growing body of work. That means you. Yes, you!

||||| Finally, I hope to motivate, inspire, or entertain you. |||||
